Why is Anne Rice against fanfiction? What's up with that?
Well, originally fanfic was pretty much ok as long as you were quiet about it. Then, after probably five years, Anne Rice randomly issued this statement on April 7, 2000 on her website:

"I do not allow fan fiction.
The characters are copyrighted. It upsets me terribly to even think about fan fiction with my characters. I advise my readers to write your own original stories with your own characters.
It is absolutely essential that you respect my wishes."

After that she went after fanfic writers with a vengance, going so far as to dig up personal information on them and send agressive emails threatening them with legal action. This is also the time fanfiction.net deleted it's entire Anne Rice category and banned all related fictions. In response, most fanfic authors dropped off the net or went into hiding. It was pretty freaking crazy, and a bit unfair in my opinion, since it's not like anyone was using fanfiction to turn a profit.

As for you fanfic writers today, all I can say is be careful or don't do it! I haven't heard any cases of personal harassment in years, but that doesn't mean that the threat isn't still real. Some fanfic has resurfaced, but you won't find it in the amounts that you used to. Most fic writers now post to private mailing lists and not to websites, and keep all personal and contact information clear of association.

Have the Vampire Chronicles ended?
As far as Anne Rice has informed us, YES. Blood Canticle was the last in the series and she doesn't plan to write anymore books about vampires or witches.

What order to the Vampire Chronicles go in? Do I have to read them in order?
They're listed in the correct order in the bibliography section.

Also, yes, you do pretty much need to read them in order. They've been said to be stand-alones, but they really are NOT since every book builds so much on the ones before it. I have a friend who's mom picked up The Vampire Armand at random in the airport not realizing it was part of a series and was very, very, very confused lol. Er, anyway though, the only ones you don't have to read in order are the New Tales. Pandora SHOULD come after The Vampire Armand and before Blood and Gold, but Vittorio is totally stand-alone and you can read it whenever.

What did you use to make this site?
I coded the HTML and CSS in notepad by hand and uploaded it with AceFTP. Layout and graphic stuff is done in Photoshop 7. Scripts, resources, and other tools can be found in the credits section.

Do you speak French? What's with the random French in the layout?
Aha, no, I don't speak French. I had a tiny bit in school and a little was self-taught, but my congigation is shit on a good day and my vocab is horrible too. So don't email me for help with your French homework, kids.

The French in the layout? It's mostly a space-filler and I thought it was cool (It wasn't even babelfished, so if you find any horrible mistakes please let me know). Now before you get up to come hurt me, I feel that I should reassure you that I absolutely am NOT the type of fan to incorporate pidgeon French into everyday speech or gasp "mon dieu!" after every freaking thing for no reason what-so-ever. Yeah. I hate those kids too.
